Possibly sold in the sale of the artist, Paris, Pillet, January 22–February 1, 1866 [claimed by Art Institute of Chicago 1961 but not possible to verify]. Henry Field (died 1890), Chicago; his widow Mrs. Florence Lathrop Field; given to the Art Institute, 1894.
